Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion

Mini Doc Series

The Opportunity

As the Bristol Rhythm and Root Reunion prepared to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2020, they wanted to take a look back at the incredible history of the festival. Because there was a lot of ground to cover and they wanted these videos to play well on social, we decided to break this concept into a series of five mini-documentaries, each focusing on a different aspect of this singular festival.

The Solution

Having produced content for the festival since 2015, we had recent history pretty well covered. However, we worked with the Birthplace of Country Music and really dove into their archives so we could show the early years of the festival as well. We also conducted a series of interviews with both those who founded the festival and the iconic artists who have played it over the years such as Marty Stuart, Jim Lauderdale, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and Grammy-nominated hometown hero Amythyst Kiah. BCM then released one episode of the series each month, really maximizing their engagement and getting the most out of their investment in the project.
